RG's National Organizing Strategy

Motivated by feedback from staff and constituents RG’s national organizing strategy seeks to lay a foundation that will enable the RG community to grow in a way that is sustainable, supports continuous leadership development and is rooted in collective responsibility. As we embark on this journey, we are laying the foundation by strengthening RG communities in key cities nationally.

The goals of RG National Organizing are to:

  • develop more leaders and a leadership trajectory;
  • increase RG's capacity to engage constituents;
  • increase the number of constituents involved in RG; and
  • create structures that foster local and national partnerships.

Our key areas of focus are:

  • develop national "chapters;"
  • establish a solid communications infrastructure; and
  • create support systems, training, and tools.

There are active RG communities in Boston, Los Angles, Seattle, Washington DC, the Bay Area, New York, Portland OR, the Twin Cities, Philadelphia, and there have been gatherings in Chicago, Olympia, Boulder/Denver, and the triangle area in North Carolina.

National Organizing Advisory Committee

RG’s National Organizing Advisory Committee (NOAC) is the body charged with providing insight on the evolution of a national organizing strategy for engaging and supporting RG communities across the country.  Led by RG Program Coordinator Elspeth Gilmore, the committee has convened for monthly conference calls since October, and met in November in NYC for a successful one-day in-person planning meeting.
